“My client claims they’ve been following an extremely low calorie diet without seeing results… What should I do?”
At our Facebook coaching communities, variations on this theme of “low-calorie-no-results” arise regularly. (“My client claims they are following a 1200 Calorie diet, yet…” or “My weight hasn’t moved despite claiming to consume only 800 Calories daily…”)

Typically, approximately half of respondents suggest the client is mistaken. “Nobody who claims they eat that little actually does so,” they declare.

The other half focuses on biological issues that may slow metabolism: “You might suggest they visit their doctor for a thyroid check-up.

Both parties may have valid arguments. But as a coach, how do you know how to proceed when both you and one of your clients have reached a low-Calorie, no-results cycle?

(And if they really are eating more than they’re telling you: How can you bring this up without accusing them of lying?)
